WIN A YEAR'S FEES WITH ARRIVA BUSES

ARRIVA UK Bus is helping to cut the cost of student debt this year by offering one lucky student the opportunity to win up to £9,000 in university fees.

To celebrate the launch of its Student Saver Passes for the 2013/14 academic year, Arriva is giving anyone who purchases one of its reduced-price tickets, the chance to scoop the life-changing prize enabling them to wipe-out a whole year's worth of fees.

Debra Heaton, from Arriva said:- "We pride ourselves on offering students real value for money with our Student Saver Passes, and with this offer, we aim to free up that extra cash for students to enjoy their education even more.   We believe that student days should be a positive experience. This prize will give one lucky person a significant financial boost by removing some of the debt worries that the current cost of education brings and we hope that it goes a long way in this current climate. While unfortunately we can't do this for everyone, we do anticipate that many will find that even the savings they make from buying one of our student passes will result in them having a few more pounds in their pockets."

Arriva currently provides a range of Student Saver Passes offering unlimited travel within defined academic periods including term-tickets and annual season passes. Prices start from £140 for the autumn term, dependent upon location.

From Monday, 9 September 2013, student pass-holders will be able to enter themselves into the prize draw by visiting:- arrivabus.co.uk/student.  Entries close on Monday, 11 November 2013.  The competition is open to both further and higher education students, with the winner to be selected at random on Monday, 25 November 2013. For full terms and conditions and also to check Arriva services relevant for your university, please visit the website.

Liverpool Women's Health Trust welcomes the BIHR Human Rights Tour to town!

LIVERPOOL Women's NHS Foundation Trust is proud to welcome the Human Rights Tour to Liverpool on 19 September 2013, presented by the British Institute of Human Rights (BIHR). BIHR's Human Rights Tour is a series of 17 free-to-attend community events taking place across the length and breadth of the UK. These unique Town Hall style days are an opportunity for local people to learn, share and debate what human right law means in practice here in the UK.

The day includes a practical introduction to human rights law, real life examples of applying human rights in everyday situations, and an update on the current political debates on human rights here at home. People will also have the opportunity to let their creative juices flow by creating their own personal human rights bunting to add to the yards of local messages already gathered from around the UK.

The Liverpool based healthcare provider is working alongside BIHR to make sure the day has a real local flavour, flagging key human rights issues within our community. There will be a focus on human rights and health and social care, and how organisations that work in the field of health and social care can use the Human Rights Act to promote better health and social care services in Liverpool and Merseyside

Stephen Bowen, Director of the British Institute of Human Rights, said:- "At BIHR we focus on what human rights mean in people's everyday lives, from the services we need help from to the schools we attend, we look at how human rights should be at the heart of our communities. I am delighted BIHR is working with the Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust on the Liverpool leg of our 17-stop Human Rights Tour.  Each year, rather than getting caught up in political wrangling about human rights, BIHR goes on tour to talk to local people about their rights and the big issues our communities are facing from tackling hate crime and harassment to ensuring people in hospitals are fed and cared for. We find a huge appetite to talk about how human rights can empower us all, providing a vital safety-net against indifference and abuse and making sure there are some basic rules to help us live with dignity and respect.  We are looking forward to some lively discussions and sharing experiences with people in Liverpool about ensuring our human rights become a reality."

Michelle Turner, Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development at the Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust, said:- "We're absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to host this event in Liverpool in conjunction with BIHR."
