Formby Christmas Lights are Switched On...!
Photographs by Patrick Trollope.

ON a moderate November Night, the lights came on for Christmas in Formby Village. The local traders have again done the area proud and have helped to decorate the village with Christmas Lights. This year many children are pleased to see the return of the Snow Man, who is again back after a summer recovering from his injuries. The event on Sunday, 22 November 2015 had the Village buzzing. It was a slow start, but thanks to the surprisingly moderate weather, that had not been forecast, the crowds soon built up. Families enjoyed the fun fairs, side shows, Father Christmas Grotto, food stalls, and even trips on a model train… All that as live music played on a large stage, which this year was located next to the Post Office. As the bands played, the host for the day, Southport Radio's Neil Newton did a fantastic job as host and by performing the major task, the countdown. Both Liverpool FC's and Everton FC, Alan Kennedy and Graham Stuart also helped Neil to switch on this years lights!  From Christmas elves to Puddle Ducks, this was quite an event. We would love to hear your memories of this and other Christmas Lights events of past.  Please email them to:- news24@southportreporter.com.  Also to see our full photographic coverage of this event, in this weeks issue, please click on here now!  Plus on our Facebook page we have a few videos taken at this event.  to see them please click on here.
